On the holy land of Prayagraj, where the confluence of Ganga, Yamuna and invisible Saraswati takes place, the divine event of Maha Kumbh was held after 144 years. In this priceless heritage of Sanatan culture, crores of devotees blessed their lives by taking holy bath, chanting and donating. This Maha Kumbh, which ran from 13 January to 26 February 2025, has been concluded on the auspicious occasion of Mahashivratri.
Crores of devotees, saints, ascetics of Akharas and devotees from India and abroad witnessed this historic occasion. Shiva mantras resonating all around, Vedic hymns, penance of saints, divinity of Ganga Aarti and sanctity of Sangam bath, all these transformed the land of Prayagraj into a Tapobhoomi.
Maha Kumbh: A grand confluence of faith and Sanatan tradition
Maha Kumbh Mela is a live tableau of Sanatan culture. According to the scriptures, during the churning of the ocean, there was a duel between the gods and demons over the Amrit Kalash. Lord Vishnu protected the nectar by assuming the form of Mohini and some of its drops fell on the earth, one of which is Prayagraj. Since then, Kumbh is organized every 12 years and Maha Kumbh every 144 years.
This time Maha Kumbh was special because it was organized after 144 years. Devotees, saints, akhadas and devotees came here and experienced the divinity of Sanatan Dharma. With the hymns of Vedas all around, the echo of Shiva mantras and the penance of the sadhus, this Maha Kumbh became a wonderful spiritual yagya in itself.
In Maha Kumbh, more than 50 crore devotees took a dip in the holy confluence, due to which waves of spirituality flowed in the entire atmosphere. There was an unprecedented gathering of Shankaracharya, Mahamandleshwar, Naga Sanyasis, saints and mahatmas of Dashnami Akharas and devotees in the Kumbh area.
Grand closing ceremony on Mahashivratri
The day of Mahashivratri is a festival of special worship of Lord Shiva. This is the night when devotees imbibe the Shiva element through Rudrabhishek, fasting and meditation. This divine coincidence of the closing of Prayagraj Mahakumbh is a symbol of the grace of Lord Shiva. Bathing in Sangam on Shivratri has special significance, as it is believed to destroy all the sins of life.
Role of Narayan Seva Sansthan in Mahakumbh
Mahakumbh is not only a confluence of spiritual faith, but also a symbol of service and compassion. Narayan Seva Sansthan participated enthusiastically in this holy event for human service. The institute organized food donation, artificial limb distribution and free medical camp while serving saints, devotees, Divyangjans and the needy.
The institute arranged free food service for thousands of devotees, so that no one remains hungry. From 13 January 2025 to 26 February 2025, three meals a day, including breakfast, lunch and dinner, were provided in a very emotional manner to the devotees who came to bathe at the Sangam coast.
On Makar Sankranti, the great festival of charity, the devotees were served delicious sweet food made of sesame and jaggery and blankets were distributed. On the auspicious occasion of Mauni Amavasya, 21 thousand blankets were distributed to the devotees and delicious food was served. Also, special arrangements were made for the devotees to stay in the camp so that the devotees who came for bathing do not have to face any kind of trouble.
Along with this, camps were organized especially for the disabled and prosthetic limbs, calipers, tricycles and crutches were distributed to them, so that they can become self-reliant. Free physiotherapy and necessary medical services were provided to the disabled who came to the Maha Kumbh, so that they can be able to live a new life.
The Sansthan organized Shiv Mahapuran Katha, Shrimad Bhagwat Katha and Shri Ram Katha every day at Narayan Khalsa, Sector-18, Prayagraj. These Kathas were also broadcasted on various TV channels, the Sansthan’s YouTube channel and Facebook page, so that devotees from far-flung areas also benefited from these religious events.
Conclusion of Maha Kumbh
Mahakumbh 2025 has ended, but its memories, message and energy will live forever. The Ganga of devotion will continue to flow in the hearts of those who have bathed in Sangam. The light of self-realization will continue to burn in the minds of those who have listened to the discourses of saints and sages. The lamp of compassion and charity will continue to burn in the lives of those who participated in the service.
Now that the devotees have returned to their homes, the holy stream of Maha Kumbh will continue to illuminate their lives. This is not just an event, it is a renaissance of the power of Sanatan culture.
