Hanuman Jayanti: festival of devotion, power and service

The birth anniversary of Shri Hanuman ji, who surrendered everything at the feet of Lord Shri Ram, sheltered his devotees in trouble and made the impossible possible, is a very sacred and spiritually awakened festival of Indian Sanatan culture. This festival is celebrated on the full moon day/purnima of Chaitra month. The day when Lord Shiva, incarnated in the form of a monkey, incarnated on this earth in the form of Shri Hanuman ji to serve humanity.

It is said that fear, sorrow and poverty cannot enter the house where Hanuman Chalisa is recited. His name itself is a divine mantra – “Sankatmochan Hanuman”, which has the ability to defeat every darkness of life. The dedication of the devotees on his birthday, the bells of the temples and the sound of Hanuman Chalisa resonating in the sky – everything makes the atmosphere supernatural.

Baal Samay Ravi Bhaksh Liyo Tab…

Hanuman ji’s childhood character is a symbol of his divinity. Once as a child, he swallowed the Sun God mistaking him for a red fruit, which led to darkness in the entire universe. On the request of the gods, he released the Sun back. This divine event proves that he is not only powerful, but also the bearer of the balance of the world. He had divine powers since childhood, but he used his power only in favor of religion. He considered himself insignificant without the name of Lord Rama. Tulsidas ji has called him a “big ascetic”, who spent his life on the path of celibacy, sacrifice, and service. This characteristic of his makes him unique from all other gods. He is a symbol of power, but that power is devoid of ego, full of dedication and completely dedicated to the feet of Shri Ram.

When is Hanuman Jayanti 2025?

According to the Hindu calendar, this year Hanuman Janmotsav will start on April 12 at 3:21 am. This date will end on the next day i.e. April 13 at 5:51 am.

Devotion-Tradition of Hanuman Janmotsav

The day of Hanuman Janmotsav begins with bathing and meditation in the morning during Brahmamuhurta. Devotees go to Hanuman Ji’s temple with a resolve to fast. Special decorations in temples, the sweet sound of bells and the chanting of devotees make the atmosphere devotional. Sunderkand, Hanuman Bahuk, Bajrang Baan and Hanuman Chalisa are recited continuously.

Grand processions are also taken out at many places, in which tableaux of various forms of Shri Hanuman Ji are presented. Devotees offer him vermilion, jasmine oil and laddus, which are very dear to him. This day is not only an opportunity for worship, but also for introspection – that we should abandon our inner ego, laziness and fear and engage in the work of Lord Shri Ram, as Hanuman Ji did throughout his life.

Without doing Ram’s work, where can I find rest…

Hanuman’s life is not just a story of his deeds, but it is austerity, dedication, and resolution that is relevant for every era. He is not just a servant of Lord Ram, but a protector of religion. When Lanka had to be burnt, he became fire; when he had to bring Sanjivani, he lifted the mountain. Such a holistic, dedicated and sensitive character is rare elsewhere. In today’s era, when service, loyalty and sacrifice have become rare, Hanuman’s life reminds us that power is used correctly only when it is under religion and devotion. Every glimpse of his life, every story, every memory teaches us this – “Ram’s name is my life, it is my sadhana, it is my siddhi.”

Hanuman Janmotsav: A festival of spiritual renaissance

Hanuman Janmotsav is not just a date, it is a day to reawaken the soul. This is the occasion when devotees can imbibe the qualities of Hanuman ji. Unwavering in devotion, complete in service and fearless in crisis. This day inspires us to burn the fear, confusion and laziness within us. Even today, by the grace of Hanuman ji, miracles happen in the lives of countless devotees – sometimes freedom from disease, sometimes destruction of fear, and sometimes realization of a new direction in life.

Come, on this auspicious occasion, let us all take a pledge that we will also perform our duties as service and strengthen our soul with the devotion of Hanuman ji.
