Due to congenital polio, Mohammad Afsar Alam was neither able to stand properly nor walk. However, now he has found the courage to live life fully.
Mohammad Khurshid Alam and Hukmi, residents of Gaya (Bihar), consider their son’s disability to be a cruel act of fate. With tears in their eyes, they share that their son, born 11 years ago, had a right foot that was completely twisted from the ankle, making it very difficult for him to walk. They sought treatment wherever they were given hope, including a private hospital in Gaya where they even went through surgery and spent a lot of money, but it didn’t help.
By God’s grace, one day they came across information about the institute’s free polio corrective surgery through social media. Without wasting any time, they first visited the institute in June 2023. After examining Alam, the doctors performed surgery on his right foot, and for the first time on May 15, 2024, he was able to stand on his feet. Now, he stands and walks comfortably. Alam happily shares that he can now play with his friends and go to school on his own. His parents are overjoyed to see their son walking and express their heartfelt gratitude to the institute.
