Sonu Kumar, a 33-year-old hardworking man from Jind, Haryana, was leading a contented life with his family of four. However, fate had something else in store for him. While he was working in a wood factory, a massive mishap occurred that left him without both legs and a hand. The tragedy left the entire family in mourning and Sonu in a state of despair.
The incident had turned his life upside down, and the once independent and self-sufficient man was now entirely dependent on others. He struggled to come to terms with the situation, and his family, which relied on him for their livelihood, faced severe financial crises.
Despite the adversity, Sonu’s determination to provide for his family remained unwavering. He started working again in a small store, surprising everyone with his dedication and enthusiasm. One day, a customer from the store told him about Narayan Seva Sansthan, a non-governmental organization that provides free services for people with disabilities.
Sonu decided to visit Sansthan, where he was warmly welcomed by the professionals. They took his measurements and fitted him with artificial limbs for all his lost limbs. Sonu was also given the necessary training to get used to artificial limbs, and after a few practice sessions, he became comfortable with them.
Sansthan’s free skill development program offered Sonu computer classes, which helped him acquire new skills and become self-sufficient again. The program proved to be a turning point in his life, and he was ready to return to his old life.
When Sonu returned to his family with his new limbs, they were moved to tears seeing him walk again. The family expressed their gratitude to Narayan Seva Sansthan for restoring Sonu’s hope and self-reliance.
