Success Story : Umang

Umang Astaya (14) faced difficulty in daily activities because of physical challenges from birth. He lived in Tandha Khurd village, Shahjahanpur, and had a shorter right hand and left leg. Because of this, he could only hop on one foot, making it hard to go to school or do daily tasks, and he had to leave school.
His parents, Dinesh and Mamta Bai worked as laborers and tried to find a solution, but nothing worked. Then, the village head told them about Narayan Seva Sansthan’s free services and suggested to go to Udaipur.

On December 12, 2024, when they reached the sansthan, the prosthetics team examined Umang and took measurements on 13 december. On 22 december, they fitted him with a special prosthetic foot. After receiving it, Umang’s life changed. He can now walk easily and live a normal life like everyone else. He said, “Now I can walk and move without problems.” His parents were so happy and said, “We never thought we’d see him walk like this. The institute has given him a new life, and we’ll be forever grateful.”

Now, Umang not only goes back to school but also plays sports with his friends. His dream is to become a teacher and bring positive change to society.
