Vocational Training for Differently-Abled by Narayan Seva Sansthan

Vocational training by Narayan Seva Sansthan started in 2001 after differently abled people faced challenges in securing jobs and societal barriers. The most common difficulty for people with disabilities is financial dependency. This often makes them reliant on their families. Without family, they face many struggles in daily activities such as eating, walking, communicating, and caring for themselves.

To address this issue, Narayan Seva Sansthan started skill development programs for differently abled individuals for free. Equipping individuals with practical skills to enhance their employability and independence.

This training makes people self-dependent and job-ready. This initiative also brings hope, dignity, and economic stability to vulnerable people and their families. Vocational training is an essential part of differently abled lives.

Vocational training empowers individuals, enabling them to transition from unemployment to employment. This transition benefits both individuals and the broader community.

Why Vocational Training Matters for Differently Abled Individuals?

In India, ability-diverse individuals face challenges in education, employment, poverty, accessibility, discrimination, health, lack of representation, inadequate educational structures, etc.

Limited access to education, employment, health services, transportation, and government services restricts them from fully participating in society. Lack of accessibility in society prevents them from personal and professional growth, making it challenging to establish their own identities. This struggle is further compounded by widespread misconceptions that prevent companies from hiring them, further limiting their opportunities. Lack of infrastructure, opportunities, and awareness about government programs, resources, and training programs prevents them from becoming job-ready. Many Educational institutions and Workplaces fail to provide adequate resources to differently abled people.

Narayan Seva Vocational training serves to cross this obstacle and break cycles of dependency, provide them with practical skills, and empower them to achieve financial independence. By focusing on their strengths rather than on their limitations, such programs enable them to become productive members of society. Narayan Seva Sansthan recognizes this need and has designed training modules to fill the requirements of differently abled individuals.

Success Stories: Real-Life Transformations

Hari Om’s inspiring journey: from struggle to success

Meet Hari Om, a young man from the Agra district diagnosed with polio. He fills his path with difficulties, yet he dares to pursue his ambitions and remains resilient. His father brought him to the Narayan Seva Sansthan, where we made free arrangements to help individuals with disabilities become self-reliant. Hari Om began sewing by participating in a 45-day free training course offered by the Know Narayan Seva Sansthan. After receiving training, organizations provided him with a sewing machine so he could earn a living. For a time, he worked diligently sewing clothes and eventually started his shop in his district. Now, he has a stable income and supports his family. This is a true testament to how vocational training can change lives.

Shripal Mishra: Overcoming adversity through vocational training

Uttar Pradesh resident Shri Pal Mishra contracted polio at the age of two after suffering from a fever, which weakened one of his legs, making him dependent on his hands for mobility. Due to his condition, he faced bullying everywhere and was unable to attend school or accomplish anything. His family, unable to afford treatment, struggled to support him. Years later, upon arriving at the institute, Shri Pal not only received treatment but also underwent free computer training. He has now become completely self-sufficient and confident by working in the sewing department of the institute.
